The Rotary Club of West Marin Dictionary Project
Presenting Dictionaries to Third-grade
Children in West Marin Schools
The Rotary Club of West Marin does it again! For the third year in a row
every third-grader in our area has received a brand new,
large, completely illustrated dictionary, courtesy of local Rotarians in
Point Reyes and beyond. Recipients included children at the West Marin,
Nicasio, Bolinas-Stinson Beach, Lagunitas, Tomales, and Bodega Bay schools.
The children were encouraged to take the books home because the aim of this
project is to provide these large, colorful books for the children, whether
or not they have another dictionary at home. This gift is their personal
book and not a school book. The Dictionary Distribution project for West Marin communities was adopted
by the Rotary Club of West Marin several years ago, under
the guidance of
Michelle Clein, its founding president.
Thanks to the leadership of Rotary
International District 5150 Governor Brian McLeran, the entire District has
now adopted the project, and will be providing free dictionaries to third
graders in Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo counties.
The Rotary Club of West Marin is a member of Rotary International, whose
members promote high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build good
will and peace in the world.
